Putting the web site together was fun.Everything was there from the Yahoo site that brother George created, just organized differently.

School Story:

Freshman year, 1972 I came to FIT on a Pennsylvanian student loan. I bought a new, shiny red surfboard and then couldn’t afford the meal plan. So I learned to live off the land, catching fish, collecting grapefruit, oranges, and the like. That first year was hard, both emotionally and scholastically. Back then; you could take as many classes as you wanted for one-fee. I toured the jungle late at night, bleary from my physics and advanced chemistry homework and played the blues harp at various pagodas. To help pay for tuition and rent, I took jobs offered by the school. First was the cafeteria as a dishwasher then a few months later I transitioned to the maintenance shop. FIT owned some houses off of University Avenue and I was sent to fix screen doors and do minor repairs. Then the big job came. Build a covered bridge. From scratch, a handful of us sank the timbers into the jungle’s muck and then raised the lumber. My two specialties were nailing the floorboards and making the rafter pieces. When that was finished, I found work at the bookstore. Does anyone remember Mr. Zimmerman, the manager? Well, it took me 6 years to complete my undergraduate degree in Ocean Engineering. A third of the cost came from student loans, a third from my mother, and a third from work. DDT Brothers were always there for me; they brought me into their lives, shared stories, and offered compassion. FIT was the glue, offering an excellent education and providing work in a sleepy little Florida town where jobs were hard to come by. My first job out of school was at Kennedy Space Center. DDT brother John Horan spoke for me and got me an interview. FIT prepared me well. I was thrilled! My salary was $12k/year in 1979. My loans were paid off in 2 years and I had a blast.

The link above is of our anniversary Zoom event. We started at 6 PM EDT with 17 and by 6:30 we were at 25. The video plays for just over an hour. It is unedited and priceless to see our fraternity family catching up. Honestly I didn't know what to expect but I smiled and laughed a lot over the banter. You are very special people and I am grateful that I pledged and was accepted all those decades ago. Let's have an anniversary in some form again next year. Be well and God Bless...

Hey, I'm throwing this out there.... We have a Fraternity Anniversary coming up April 13th. That's 54 years by my math and a Tuesday.

Is anyone interested in having a ZOOM event? Just saying, it's easy to set up and we have time to settle on a specifics. Thoughts?

So long March, Hello April. Yes, we have a few hours to go but it's my bed time and I wanted to push this out. If you get excited about Spring like me, you might sometimes wet your plants. Ba-dump.

The above link is a short dash cam video of an accident Cheryl's son witnessed yesterday. The place is on I-95 just North of DC. Zach's dash-camera shows a car sliding into a semi at high speed, overturning and striking another truck before rolling into a ditch. Zach was first on the scene. The driver was ok. The police asked for a copy of this footage. The take-aways are many like.... Dash cameras are helpful. Staying alert at the wheel at all times must be job %

Greets to all. . . I was looking at our "In Memory" page and noticed a box that if checked, shows pictures. Wow, that's cool but I didn't see 11 people that should have had pictures. I discovered that the site uses our year book picture for the "In Memory" picture. With that knowledge I added pictures for everyone but two. If you have a picture of Thomas Crawford or Rick Kushner, please send and I will add them. Also, if you have a better picture than what you see, I'm willing to update. So take a look with that box checked. Last, update your yearbook picture when you have a chance. It doesn't matter if it's current or when you were a baby. Anything is better than blank.

Well, I'm sharing this home-made video from 10 years ago. You see, I am a Pittsburgher and returned for a few years to take care of my dad. I took a position at a small robotics company, about 6 miles from my home in the inner city. One of my greatest life-experiences was Segwaying to and from work. I kept a second wheel chair at the office so I could transfer to it. Looking back, I put 1200 miles on that machine. Its awesome engineering brought so much joy. Doing this in the inner city's back streets and alleys in everything but snow was uncommon then and would be now. For a guy in a wheel chair for 21 years, this made me appear "normal". So now you know a little more about me. Take care and stay safe

February 2021 has 6 more hours to go. Then it's March madness. 53 of us have logged into the web site this month. I think that's a record. Kenny Watts and Wayne Cole's emails are bouncing. Hope those guys are ok. Our DDT "Family" grieves with the recent passing of honorary brother Jim Tully and brother Dave "Kaz" Kaczmarczyk. To Terry and Al, you brought tears to my eyes when I read your posts. Darn, here they come again. Beth, Thank you for your reflections and wonderful picture.

"Birds of a feather...flock together".

This picture is from my porch yesterday. I set up a motion camera late last year and enjoy the squirrels and birds nibbling at treats we leave out. With the first big snow, this guy shows up for a cameo.

Do you have a bird picture to share?

Don Hooper left us on this day in 2016. He was my pledge brother and friend. Some of you wrote heartfelt memories to him and his family. You can revisit these and others who passed on our "In Memory" page. He also left us with a great story via a video with Nick. Hoop is on my mind today and all visions have him smiling. God Bless everyone, everyday.

Well, Christmas came to all yesterday and today is the aftermath. I bought a levitating moon on a whim a few weeks ago. The add drew me in. Not only would it "float" above its stand but it would have an internal light that received its power from the base. Oh my, how cool is that? Wait, there's more.. . .the moon would spin. As much as Cheryl and I tried, we could not set the moon on its levitating base. The strong magnetic field would join the globe to the base's corners. Christmas dinner yesterday was with Cheryl, her son, and me. I asked him to try setting the moon to levitate. He got it in only 3 attempts. This is another example of human skills failing us as we get older. Now I just have to have him come over whenever we have a power outage to reset the moon. Enjoy the short video

I picked up a hitchhiker. He asked if I wasn’t afraid, he might be a serial killer? I told him the odds of two serial killers being in the same car were extremely unlikely.
